Agreement
By downloading or using Chamber you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
What Chamber is
Chamber is a free desktop application from Melodic Development that encrypts files with age and stores them in a git repository you control. It is a tool that runs on your computer. Melodic Development does not host your data and has no ability to recover it.
License
Chamber is open source under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, and distribute it under the terms of that license. These terms of service do not narrow the rights the MIT License grants you.
Your keys and your data
- You are responsible for keeping your private key and recovery kit safe. If both are lost, the secrets encrypted to that key cannot be recovered by anyone, including Melodic Development.
- You are responsible for who you add as a keeper. Every keeper can read every secret in that chamber.
- You are responsible for the git host you choose and for complying with its terms.
Acceptable use
Do not use Chamber to store or distribute material you do not have the right to hold, or in any way that violates applicable law.
No warranty
Chamber is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Encryption software can have bugs. Review the code, keep backups, and rotate credentials that may have been exposed.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Melodic Development shall not be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from or in connection with the software or its use, including loss of data or disclosure of secrets.
Third-party services
Git hosts and operating-system keystores are provided by third parties under their own terms. Chamber's use of them is described in the privacy policy.
Changes
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always at this address with the date above.
